Igor Udushlivy has designed a selection Book Jacket & Bookmark as new concept design. This creation is a great idea so use dust jackets and bookmarks together to create a unique image of a paper book. The idea can help to expand book’s space.
Here are two examples of his work.
This first image is based on the Nottingham born fictional/real hero Robin Hood. Udushlivy has designed the book with illustrations that relate to the story. He has chose an apple as the main picture on the front of the book to grab the audiences attention. The main reason why he has an apple at the front on the book is to link in with the story. The apple is significant, as well as the arrow in the book mark, an arrow. The significant between the the apple and the arrow is that in the story, Robin shots arrows at fruit so he can give food to the poor. The arrow also links with that he is good at archery. In my opinion the illustrations are really good, and are really minimalistic which draws you in more. Also the text that has been used is bold and stands out and makes to take notice. The text is black and is in a very standard form, meaning it is a sans serif (no flicks on the end of letters). I really like this simplicity of Udushlivy work, because the illustrations on the cover tell you what happens inside the book basically tells you whats in the book. Here are two examples of his work.
Here is another design by Igor Udushlivy. This book jacket is straight to the point in what the story is about without having the title of the book on the cover. 'The Sword in the Stone' is a world famous story about a sword stuck in a stone, hence the title. The way that this book jacket has been designed is really simple, having the name of the book at the bottom, meaning that the main attention is of the stone at the top of the page with the bookmark of a sword revealing itself from the inner pages, so it looks like the 'sword is stuck in the stone. The colours that have been used are too over the top, as they are kept really subtle so there is no distraction from the book. Udushlivy design and creativity with this jackets is just to draw you in, not just with the bookmark and the illustration, but also the text too. Again he has used the same font as in the other book jacket, but has made the first line slightly bigger than the second so the word 'sword' get the most emphasis out of the name of the story.
